Yujin Gakuen would like to thank the Eugene Education Foundation (EEF) for awarding our school $3,000 for the 2019-2020 school year! Our primary teachers, Robin, Maran, and Monica Senseis wrote a grant proposal, seeking $5,000 to develop a literacy book collection of leveled, non-fiction texts for grades K-2.
This collection would consist of class sets of books for use during our reading time. These books would be shared across grades K-2 and would be used by approximately 165 students each school year. Our goal is to purchase 48-52 class sets of books that are appropriate for a wide spectrum of reading levels. With a class set being 35 books, we hope to purchase more than 1,600 books on a wide variety of topics including animals, earth science, weather, biographies, and space. The literature will range from sight word/phonics-based texts to non-fiction chapter books.
Thanks to Robin, Maran, and Monica for writing the grant application, which will bring in $3,000, and give our students a wider range of books to read and enjoy.
