Thanksgiving Activities In Phoenix AZ 2016

Dear friends and families of Yujin Gakuen,

I have heard that during unusual times, such as we are going through right now with COVID-19, our sense of time changes. This year, it feels as though first part of the year has gone by quickly. The Thanksgiving holiday is already upon us, and it won’t be much longer for the winter holidays to follow. We have finished the tenth week of distance learning.

With the long weekend, it’s a natural time for us to take a moment to appreciate what’s great about Yujin Gakuen and why I am proud to serve you and the school community.

We are pleased with our students who connect online every day ready to learn. They provide us all a daily reminder of why do the work we do and what is really essential.

We are grateful for the support of our parents in building an excellent community for our students. We are also thankful that our parents have kept the trust and confidence in us even through these unusual times. They continue to leave their most valuable ones with us. We have parents who work hard and advocate to be a partner in their children’s education, safety, and well-being. For this, we will always be so thankful. We are also grateful for our PTO who enthusiastically provide so much to our school.

We are grateful for the staff who care about student success and have the best interests of our students in mind. We see dedicated and hard-working individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen in our school. They do make a difference, and our students benefit from those efforts.

I would like to wish all of you and your families a healthy, relaxing and safe Thanksgiving break with family and loved ones!

Sincerely,

Kocho Sensei

Updated Family Contact Directory

This is an updated Contact Directory with more families included a s of 11/24/20. As the pandemic continues and social distancing restrictions are in place, we will need to be creative and support our community to stay connected, while remaining safely quarantined. Teachers will continue to find creative ways for our children to connect during school hours. We continue to encourage you and your children to connect with other families outside of school hours by using Facetime (free for Mac product owners -only 2 participants at a time), Zoom (free -allows multiple people to participate at once), Skype (free -only 2 participants at a time), and even phone calls.Supervision may be required during virtual ‘play-dates’, similar to how you may check in with kids when in the backyard together. The directory includes all families who chose to share their contact information, whether it be a phone number, email or both. Some families chose to share additional contact for other family members as well, and is noted with the relationship to the child. We listed only the information that was shared on the Google form survey.

Story Time with Naoko Sensei

Last spring Naoko Sensei read stories and shared them with the school community during distance learning. We will be sharing these again so new students can view and listen to these stories and returning students are able to view them again. We will be sharing additional stories each week until winter break. Click the linked stories below to view the stories:

Technology Appropriate Use Expectations

4J established the 2020-21 Summary Tech Appropriate Use Expectations (Spanish version). These serve as guidelines for technology use, summarized, along with the device protection information. We are sharing this with families, students and teachers to help establish expectations for use of technology resources. It includes points that are important to teachers and students, such as expectations that students not record the teacher or others or take screenshots without permission. It also includes information about the Student Device Protection Plan.
Families should note that devices may not be taken out of state, and many learning applications will not work and cannot be supported outside of Oregon.
