Dear friends and families of Yujin Gakuen:
I’m writing to inform you about some changes we are making regarding where students will be eating their lunches. We tried to hold lunch outside during the last three days, and we found that there were some problems. Today, in particular, we had many students being harassed by yellow jackets. We also have other difficulties with students carrying their lunches outside a long distance, wind blowing their things around, and some students having allergies to grass. We also have wet weather in the forecast at the end of this week, and we were planning to eat lunch inside during rainy days.
Starting Tuesday, our younger students (K-1) will be eating lunch inside the cafeteria. They will be seated 3 feet apart and will have assigned seats in the cafeteria, so that we will be able to do contact tracing efficiently if needed.
The older students will continue to eat outdoors when weather permits, but our 2nd and 3rd grade students may also be eating indoors, based on conditions outside. If the yellow jackets continue to be a nuisance, the 2nd and 3rd grade students will also eat lunch indoors.
I hope families understand our decision to eat lunch indoors. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
