YG Family Newsletter – September 16, 2021

Dear friends and families of Yujin Gakuen:

We have are almost finished with our first full week of school, and it’s been a combination of relief and excitement. I’m relieved that after a year of waiting to see what traffic would look like during arrival and dismissal, we finally got to see it. While we had some hiccups along the way, it went better than expected. Any issues we had with traffic were overshadowed by the excitement to see our students back in school, seeing their smiling faces, and getting to know them and how much they have grown since the last time we were in “regular” school.

Now that the school year is under way, we will be posting a weekly newsletter each Thursday. My goal is to publish in the afternoon, but sometimes they might have to wait until the evening. These will be sent to families by email, but they will also be posted on the YG website.

I hope your child is enjoying school, whether returning to brick and mortar or entering our kindergarten. I encourage you to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns. I can be reached at: 541-790-4640.

I have some reminders as we start this school year. Please remember to actively assess how your children are feeling and if they have any symptoms each day. Your partnership in not sending sick kids to school is also a key strategy to preventing exposure and spread. Although there is a lot we do not have control over with this pandemic, working together on this will give us the best shot possible to keep us in person this year. Also, please ensure that your students bring masks with them to school every day.

Thank you to the families who attended our Virtual Back to School Question and Answer session. For those of you who were not able to attend, there is a recording of the zoom session.

Health and safety measures protect students and staff and reduce risk of spreading COVID-19 • Parent information webinar will cover frequently asked questions about return to school buildings 

Eugene School District 4J is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff. As the school year gets underway, the district is holding a parent information webinar to keep families up to date about the return to in-person learning.

District staff will provide an overview of COVID-19 health and safety protocols and preventive measures such as vaccines, face masks, distancing, ventilation, cleaning, testing, and what happens when there’s a COVID-19 case identified at a school.

The webinar also will address some frequently asked questions provided in advance; it will not be a live Q&A session. If you have questions you’d like to see covered, please share them by Sunday, September 19.
