Dear YG staff,
I hope you are having a good weekend. It got a little bit warm on Saturday, and we are expecting temperatures up to 70 degrees on Sunday. I’m hoping we have nice weather this week. We are getting closer to the end with only two full weeks remaining. The remaining weeks are 4 or 4-and-a-half days.
Items of Note
May 13th Meeting – NotesSomeone asked that the meeting notes be shared in the staff newsletter. There are some things that I thought about after the meeting, and they are in blue text. Expectations for teaching ELA
Plastic forks, spoons, etc
Items for DiscussionPreparation or questions ahead of the May 20th meeting. Scott shared a document for staff to write down their concerns over space. See below.

Field Day Draft Schedule – Jun 9, 2022We are still in communication with NEHS regarding 9th grade students helping us with a field day experience. However, there was talk that it would be a regional field day, but that’s not my understanding. Regardless of whether or not 9th graders can help us, we do have interns available who can help supervise the events. Additionally, we will have two teachers available to supervise during each session. Grades 4-5 – 8:45-9:45 Intern Appreciation Luncheon? Ideas for when to hold the event?

Last Day of School Release TimePrincipals got word that schools on the Tier 2 schedule: 8:30 to 3:00 will be released at 11:45 on June 17th, the last day of school.

iPad CollectionsThe district has made the decision to collect all student iPads K-8 at the end of the 2021-2022 School year. While some schools have continued with a true 1:1 where students take iPads home daily others have chosen to keep devices at school. Most schools already have enough carts to accommodate this, but the technology department is currently working on inventory and moving carts from middle schools to support this initiative. Once you have all of your cows in place you may start requiring students to maintain iPads at school. Starting May 31st after Memorial Day, all devices at all elementary schools need to be stored at school. |
5th Grade Promotion CeremonyPrincipals were informed today that end-of-the year promotion ceremonies may take place and may be scheduled indoors or outdoors for 5th grade. If we hold the ceremony indoors, it would alleviate the problem of having a plan for a rainy day.
Principals were also told not to ask for any more exceptions to our COVID rules/protocols.
Nutrition Services would like to support end of year celebrations and have a few menus in development. They are working on a special breakfast for 5th grade students, and they are also offering several versions of a picnic/BBQ lunch menu. We had talked about reserving the cafeteria on the morning of Thursday, June 16th. Is this something you still want to do? If so, I’ll need to let Patty know what you want. We would need to schedule the cafeteria for a time after Kelly students are finished with breakfast.

School Supplies for Fall 2022 – Holly Langan and her team wanted to make sure that building principals were aware of the bulk supplies that we are purchasing as a district for each school. Here is the email that Julia Girod sent out a few weeks ago, but not all principals were not included in this communication earlier. |
Self-Harm Event RecordingLinked here is the Self-Harm Video Recording from the community event about self-harm that was held April 25th at Sheldon. It could be a good resource if families reach out about self-harming behaviors. |
FOSS Science KitsWe didn’t have time to show the slide deck and also discuss the intern luncheon, so we decided that teachers would watch it on their own. See below:
