YG Family Newsletter- May 19, 2022

Dear friends and families of Yujin Gakuen,

This has been an eventful week for our primary grades. Our kindergarten, first and second grade classes performed their annual plays. These were captured on video, and they will be shared with families to view online. I’m glad we were able to start bringing back our traditional play performances and start moving back toward “normal.”

I hope you are able to get outdoors and enjoy some of the partially sunny weather we have been having.

Yours sincerely,

Kocho Sensei

The NED Shows | Character Education is Center Stage!

The NED Show

Our school is hosting The NED Show- a live streaming all school event! A world-class performer takes our students on an interactive educational journey filled with storytelling, illusions, yo-yo tricks and humor. NED’s message inspires students, promotes academic achievement, and supports our school goals.

Our school received this program at no-cost because another school community has paid-it-forward to us. Now it’s our turn—you can help by purchasing a NED-messaged yo-yo and accessories. A yo-yo is both a mindset tool and tangible reminder of NED’s message. While learning to yo, children will make mistakes, try again, and improve. Read more at bit.ly.why-yos.

Care After Tragic Event

If you find yourself troubled by the tragic events of this past weekend or by any other concerns, there are some the resources that you might find helpful in talking with your child.

Events like these also raise questions and fears in children. Families can help children feel safe by talking with them openly if they have fears, establishing a sense of normalcy and security, and reassuring them that schools are safe places and dangerous events are rare. If families need resources to help guide their discussion of these events with their children, a few resources include:

Thank you for caring for yourselves and each other, as well as for our students. We stand together against hate, and we stand up for each other. Together we are strong.

Keep Schools Safe, Stay Home When Sick

Check for wellness each day before coming to school

To help everyone at school stay healthy, students and staff need to be healthy when they come to school. If your student is feeling unwell, or if they or anyone in their home has symptoms of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases, they need to stay at home.

Symptoms that should keep a student home include:

  • Fever of 100.4º or higher
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting – home for 48 hours after or release by healthcare provider

If your student has any of these symptoms, please keep them at home and call your school’s attendance line.

If your student has been diagnosed or exposed to COVID-19, or is waiting for test results to check on COVID symptoms, please keep them home and notify our office.

If your student has a chronic health condition that could look like COVID symptoms—including conditions that cause a cough or shortness of breath, such as asthma or allergies—please talk to our nurse and document it in their health history, or they may be sent home from school if they are showing these symptoms.

Thank you for helping students and staff stay healthy in our school buildings. More Information: Health & Safety Protocols
