Notes:
Admin
This year our staff will focus on learning new curriculum, including Wit and Wisdom, Fundations and Geodes (K-3), and the Great Body Shop (new health curriculum). Staff have new learning and they have to restructure the way they divide up the subjects between the Japanese and English classes. We want to focus most of our work in this direction.
For students, we will continue to focus on their social and emotional learning.
Also acknowledge and appreciate the PTO for sponsoring and organizing the Back to School Picnic. It was a big success. It was well attended and had more opportunities for play and for fun than previous picnics.
Teachers
Happy that students get to have more choices this year with most of the COVID protocols lifted. Students get to choose where they sit in the cafeteria, we have more cross age relationships with 6-8 grade students. Overall Fabulous and fun. Students are more confident this year.
Families
Appreciate having the opportunity to talk to other parents, see the actual building and classrooms, and staff in person..
Old Business
We reviewed: Oregon Integrated Systems Framework. We will use this tool to complete a needs assessment and use those results to develop a school improvement plan.
Goals for the year: we would like to see more parent involvement and more opportunities for families to be involved in school activities. This year, the process for approving parent volunteers has been slow. Tom will provide an update at the next meeting.
Safety Protocols: this year we are using a different safety protocol. We are using the Standard Response Protocol. More information will be provided in the newsletters as we approach Safety Week. We are also waiting to hear updates from our Health and Safety Department.
