YG Family Newsletter- October 27th, 2022

Posted Date: 04/26/2024

Dear friends and families of Yujin Gakuen:

After what seemed to be a very long time with smoke-filled air, we finally get to be back outside for recess this week. It’s a big relief for students and staff. While we appreciate having better air quality, I’d like to remind students to bring their coats as the fall weather is upon us.

Speaking of fall, Monday, October 31st, students can wear a costume or fancy outfit. Students will need to bring their costumes and change at school, but we are allowing the Kinders to wear their costumes to school.

When choosing a costume, please remember:

  • Avoid weapons or weapon-like props
  • Students do not wear masks indoors or in the classroom (except with teacher permission)
  • Avoid especially scary or gory costumes

Thank you for supporting Yujin Gakuen. We hope you have a great weekend.

Health screening on a computer with a megaphone next to it

Health Screening- Friday, October 28th

*Dental screening offered for all students*

*Vision screening offered for K through 3rd*

Our vision screening this year will be Friday October 28th during the school day for kindergarten through third grade. This vision screening will be done by a “Spot Test” with the Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation volunteers and does NOT take the place of a thorough eye examination by an eye health specialist, as serious or eye health problems can be missed. If the results of the vision screening indicate your student needs a thorough eye exam, you will be notified of results after we receive them, generally 2-4 weeks after the screening date. The volunteers are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Our dental screening is offered for all students.  Students of Parents and Guardians who chose to return the Authorization for Dental hygiene Services can receive a fluoride varnish treatment, which helps prevent cavities. These services are provided by the Community Health Centers of Lane County dental hygiene providers.

Please let us know if you do not wish your child to participate.

Many of our parents asked what steps they need to take to volunteer at school. Please see the links below or visit the 4J webpage “Volunteer in the Eugene District 4J.”

As a parent or guardian, you may wonder how you can get involved in your child’s education. One great way to do this is by volunteering in the Eugene District 4J schools. Volunteering offers many benefits for both you and your child. It’s a great way to meet other parents and get to know the teachers and staff at your child’s school. It can also be a fun and rewarding way to spend some time with your child.

If you’re interested in volunteering, there are a few things you need to do. First, you’ll need to complete a background check. You can find more information about this on the 4J website. You’ll also need to complete a mandatory training session. Once you’ve done these things, you’ll be ready to start volunteering.

So why not give it a try? Volunteering is a great. See the links below to get started or visit “Volunteer in the Eugene District 4J.”
