NEW Kindergarten Smart Start
In consultation with early learning experts, 4J has re-designed the start of school for our youngest students to help set them up for success this year and beyond.
Starting with smaller classes and parent conversations will allow teachers the opportunity to understand your child’s unique strengths and needs from the start.
Kindergarten Smart Start will help ensure a successful and personalized introduction to school for each student and a smoother start for all students.
Group A – Last name A-L: Attend full day, Sept 6 (W), 7 (Th), 11 (M), & 13 (W)
Group B – Last name M-Z: Attend full day, Sept 6 (W), 8 (F), 12 (Tu), & 13 (W)
No Kindergarten Sept 14 & 15 – parent/teacher conversations.
School Supplies…just a backpack and water bottle
Eugene 4J school district provides most of the supplies families usually buy. Please plan on sending your student to school with a backpack.
Class/Cohort Assignments
Class lists/cohorts will be emailed to families on the afternoon of Friday, September 1st, just prior to Labor Day weekend.
YMCA Before and After School Care
The YMCA offers a before and after school program for YG students, on site at 850 Howard. See Flyer for details
This is a work in progress and I am committed to updating it with the most current information.
And, finally, I want to address the topic of where YG may be housed in the future. Unfortunately, I don’t have any new or different information than what has already been shared out publicly and stated in board meetings. I will be working with Jenna McCully (Chief of Staff for Eugene 4J) and Melissa Ibarra (Director of K-12 Dual Language Education) to outline a process to solicit information and inform decisions.
