Back to School Letter from Principal
Dear YG Families!
I am so excited to welcome you all back for the 25.26 school year. By now, you have received communication from your student(s)’ Senseis about class placement, school supplies, and other pieces of important information to get you started.
I have added a bunch more information about: busing, end of day pick up, etc. For afternoon pick up, remember to either (1) park your car outside of the main parking lot and walk in to get your student (BEST CHOICE) or (2) remain in your car, follow the cones and staff directions (more details below under Pick up).
I am looking forward to seeing you all again for the 25-26 school year.
Kimberly Ingram, Principal (Kocho Sensei)

Welcome New YG Staff
Please join me in welcoming a few new staff to YG:
Kanna Scoggin - First Grade Japanese Language teacher
I am super excited to be part of the YG community and staff. You may have seen me around as a guest teacher for the 24/25 school year. It is wonderful to see students I have guest taught.
Little bit about me: I am half Japanese. I grew up speaking Japanese and immersed in the culture. I am proud and excited to bring and teach the language and culture that I grew up with to my students.
I am a huge UO fan and I love anything that is from Japan and cute!
Brynne Eidlin- Librarian (2 days per week) - My name is Brynne Eidlin and I am so excited to be joining the YG community as your librarian this year! Originally from Portland, I have been living and working in Eugene for the past 25 years. I have been a classroom teacher with 4J for the past 17 years and most recently I have been teaching fourth grade at Camas Ridge Elementary. I live with my husband, two daughters, Harper and Clementine, and our dog Belle. I look forward to bringing my love of literature and teaching to the students, staff, and families of YG this year so feel free to swing by the library and say hello!
Timmy Beick - Education Assistant - I’m excited to join the community at YG! I spent the past two years as a Title EA at Holt, my proudest moment probably being the honor of wearing the mascot costume and freestyle dancing during the talent show. But truly, I hope to always create a space that feels fun and safe for any kids. Besides the EA life, I spend a lot of time coaching volleyball (at South Eugene High and my own independent club), and I do some videography on the side. I’m also big on movies/TV, music, video games, board games, party games… games forever.

-
Bell rings at 3:00. Teachers will bring students out to their designated wait areas to be released by the teacher.
Our goal will be to have the majority of students loaded and off to their next destination by 3:15.
Expect to be in the line until 3:20(ish) for the first few days of school.
Parking is extremely limited. Please do not park in the lot at dismissal.
-
Two options to collect your student
Park on the street, avoid the bus loading zone, and walk up to get your student. This is our preference because you can see your child and their teacher, connect with other families, play if you have a few extra minutes, etc. If you are in the car line,
REMAIN in your car and a staff member will bring your student to you.
-
If you are in the car line, please wait to drive away until released by a staff member. This is for safety and efficiency. Please DO NOT weave outside of the cones. We have staff (and students) walking to get to cars and this would be unexpected and dangerous.
If you are worried about timing, I encourage you to park along the street and walk down to get your student.
Teachers will be asking you about your child’s mode of transportation to and from school each day of the week, so we can get them into the correct dismissal line. If you have a last minute change, please call the mainline (541) 790-4606 BEFORE 2:30, so we can get a note to your child’s teacher before the hustle of dismissal.
School Supplies
We understand that purchasing school supplies can sometimes be a challenge, and we want to make it as easy as possible for our families to contribute. There are two ways you can help:
Make a monetary contribution: Write a check for $30, made out to Yujin Gakuen Japanese Immersion Elementary School, and we will purchase supplies,
OR
Donating specific supplies: Below are items that each grade would need. Anything beyond that is helpful and appreciated. Items might be shared depending on the teacher.
Additionally, we ask that each student comes prepared with the following items:
One large, sturdy backpack
Reusable water bottle
PE suitable shoes to wear to school on PE days
Snacks
