Dear Yujin Gakuen Families,

Welcome back! We hope you are having a wonderful and restful summer break. The new school year is just around the corner, and we are so excited to welcome you and your students back to our halls.

As we gear up for a great year of learning and growth, we have a few important staffing updates to share:

• We are thrilled to welcome back Alison Johnson, who will be job-sharing in second grade English with Maran Reyes. They will be co-teaching with Sayaka Chesterman (Japanese).

• Taylor Kellogg will be returning as our Kindergarten English teacher; who will be co-teaching with Conner Uhlinger (Japanese). 

• Jody Garratt has moved to fourth grade (Japanese), where she will be co-teaching with Jenny Kneale (English).  

• Kelly Stroh (English) and Mariko Maddock (Japanese) are the 5th grade team next year. I’d like to thank Bree Young for co-teaching with the 5th grade team last year.  We will still see Bree Sensei as a valued member of the YG community and a highly sought after guest teacher.

• Our third grade team remains the same, with Kenji Nato (Japanese) and Amanda Christie (English). 

• We are currently in the process of interviewing to fill our open first-grade Japanese teacher position and a part-time .8 Library Specialist position, which will be shared with two other schools. 

  • Sara Dubose Sheppard (English) will co-teach with the new first grade Japanese teacher and is already thinking about shared routines to support a new teacher, with Takako Sensei providing support for our new teacher with Japanese Curriculum.

  • Christina Jimenez, YG librarian last year, moved to Howard Elementary. 

  • We will update you as soon as these positions are filled.

Please mark your calendars for these important upcoming dates:

• Project Hope will be August 23rd and 24th. Tickets for this event will be available at 7am on August 18. Please see the linked flyer for more details about this wonderful community event.

• Teachers' First Day: Our dedicated teachers will be back in the building on August 26th to prepare for the start of the school year.

• Meet the Teacher - Sept 2, time is to be determined.

• Fall Family BBQ, hosted by YG PTO, Sept. 12. More information to follow.
